Marginalized youth are at a significantly greater disadvantage in our society. Many feel
undervalued and have difficulty envisioning a bright future for themselves. At Back 2
Basickz, we start with the basics and then focus on other critical and necessary
resources to improve, support, and empower our youth. Our multifaceted approach
connects youth innovatively to employment, mental health support, academic success,
volunteerism and positive peer relationships. Our mission is to support and develop
underserved youth in the community to achieve success.

Youth Outreach Worker
The Youth Outreach Worker’s role entails the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing
management of external communications with youth in the community. This involves aligning
activities to meet organizational objectives while upholding our mission and values.

Reports to the Executive Director


Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain positive, trusting and meaningful relationships with youth and families,
    stakeholders and members of the community through community engagement and outreach
  • Plan, design, and execute promotional materials to inform and educate the public, media, and
    stakeholders about B2B Youth Services.
  • Complete assessments and evaluations for youth, including community surveys.
  • Assist in the development of outreach and communication materials, including newsletters,
    brochures, social media posts, video content, etc
  • Conduct outreach to recruit participants for B2B Youth Support programs; in-person outreach
    through attendance at community events, schools, job fairs, etc
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies for community programs.
  • Conduct case management, including needs and risk assessment, identification and assessment of
    youth
  • Prepare reports, presentations and press materials as required.
  • Build relationships by providing positive role modelling to youth, staff, placement students and
    volunteers.
  • Participate in the planning of workshops and community events.
  • Maintain client files and records (hard/digital copies).
  • Investigate and utilize community resources and provide evidence-based information to youth and
    the community
  • Engage youth and families through social media discussions.
  • Make culturally sensitive and relevant youth referrals.
  • Work with other professionals and agencies that may be contacted to support youth and/or their
    families.
  • Familiarize yourself with the policies of B2B Youth Support Services.
  • Ensure Duty to Report protocols are followed and brought to the attention of the Executive Director
    in a timely manner.
  • Assist youth facing challenges by connecting them and/or their families to relevant resources.
  • Work as a strong team member.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client files and records.
  • Keep the Executive Director informed of any pertinent information regarding youth, families, or
    staff which may cause concern.
  • Attend and participate in all program-specific meetings, including team meetings, workshops,
    events etc.
  • Provide peer support to students and/or volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Social Services or equivalent education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience of excellence in community engagement and outreach
  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-ethnic, high-density, urban communities
  • Cultural sensitivity to individuals and families of diverse backgrounds and walks of life
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Familiarity with social platforms and design software: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WordPress,
    Teams, Canva and possess a positive online presence.
  • Organized and responsive to meet deadlines • Professional presentation and work style
  • Knowledge of issues experienced by racialized youth
  • A commitment to social change and equity
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • A Valid Driver’s Licence with access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Police Records Check – Vulnerable Sector required

Job Type
Salary $57,000
Full-time Contract, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Some weekends.
Non-Union $57, 000
Work Location In-person
