We are a non–profit organization dedicated to developing and supporting of marginalized and underserved youth. Our aim is to empower youth through community engagement, education and mentorship. At Back2Basickz we build character, resilience, unlock potential, foster growth and pave the way for a future filled with opportunities and success.

At Back2Basickz we have many values but our main 3 are: Empowerment: instilling self-worth, resilience, and confidence. Equity; working to diminish disparities and empower all marginalized youth to reach their full potential. Education: We believe in the power of education; we strive to equip marginalized youth with the knowledge and skills necessary to break the cycle of disadvantage using innovative and creative means.
Community is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to fostering transformation, uplifting, healing, and growth through a community-centric approach. The core of our mission is to support, build and strengthen our communities.
Amanda Coombs is the founder of Back2Basickz Youth Support Services, an organization
that started as a program providing rehabilitation and support services for youth involved in the Criminal Justice System.
Amanda holds a B.A. in Psychology and is an alumni of York University. Since 2017 Amanda has certified over 1000 youth and adults as Mental Health First Aid Responders. Amanda provides training for in both the private and public sector.
Amanda applies evidence-based teaching methods from her experience both working and volunteering at CAMH, various shelters, group homes, prisons, and hospitals throughout Ontario.
Abdinasir Mohammed is the co-founder of Back2Basickz and is a graduate of the Community Worker Program at George Brown College. Abdinasir has been living and working in the Jane and Finch community for over a decade and has been involved in various projects, to help build and strengthen the community.
Abdinasir participated recently at a project at the Black Creek Community Farm; an sits on the board Everdale Farm; a Community Teaching Farm that helps to educate and build food resilience in local communities.
Abdinasir is passionate about helping youth and remains a dedicated force for helping young individuals overcome obstacles.
